It's a bit of a walk to the Pest side, but the stroll is pleasant. Breakfast offers a wide choice of fruit, cereals, sweet and savoury cakes, and excellent coffee.”

The double room with river view is all about that floor-to-ceiling window — lying in the huge bed you look straight at the river and Parliament, just like a postcard, illuminated at night. It's romantic, well worth the higher price. Everything else was great too: clean, well-equipped, tidied daily. I didn't take breakfast. The hotel decor features paintings by Donald Sultan — four in my room, each with a nameplate, quite quirky. You can walk up to Fishermen's Bastion with its cafes and restaurants. The hotel's own bar/restaurant is pricey, though in summer you can have a beer in the air conditioning. The nearest bridge is the beautiful Chain Bridge, and there's a metro at Batthyány tér if you tire of crossing.”
